Some people think that schools should teach students according to their academic abilities, while others believe that it is better to have students with different abilities study together. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Education plays crucial role in the overall development of any individual. Separating pupils according to their intelligence is matter of great concern. All children are not born with same intelligent ability. Therefore, it becomes difficult for teachers to teach them among others. This essay shall enlist both views and highlight my opinion.
There are several arguments in favour of teaching intelligent students and weak students in different sections. The students with high intellectual power can grab things at higher speed. For weak students, sessions can be made interesting so that they can learn as per their ability. This would help both categories to enjoy learning. Moreover, in a mixed class, weak students are unable to cope up with others and fall under immense pressure and get demotivated. When they are separate, education can adopt some different tactics to give maximum benefit to students.
Furthermore, disruptive behaviour shown by intelligent students would be problematic for students. Sometimes students who grasp things quickly become disturbing elements creating problem for tutor to maintain discipline.
However, as per many scholars weak students develop an inferiority complex on being separated, not only this, the other group might not treat them well, which can have a direct effect on their mind. In a mixed group, a sense of competition develop, with appreciation even weak students can be motivated to study. Intelligent students should be encouraged by teachers to extend helping hand to their weak counter parts.
All in all, I opine that children should not be separated, as any academic abilities are not enough to judge the intelligence of the students. Albeit there are pros of both approaches to teach students of different abilities, it would be better to teach them in a mixed class.
